Selection Process and Exam Pattern for Bihar TRE 4.0

The recruitment includes a written Preliminary Exam, Main Examination, and Document Verification. There is no interview stage. Candidates can check the detailed Syllabus section for preparation guidance.

1. Preliminary Examination (Screening Test)

  • Objective type exam consisting of 150 questions for 150 marks (Duration: 2 hours).
  • Syllabus: General Science, National and International Current Affairs, History of India & Bihar, General Geography & Geography of Bihar, Indian Polity & Economy, post-independence Bihar economy changes, National Movement & Bihar's role, and General Mental Ability.
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deducted per incorrect answer. Questions have 5 options (A to E). If not attempting a question, marking Option E is mandatory; leaving it completely blank results in a 1/3rd negative mark deduction.

2. Shortlisting for Main Exam

Candidates will be shortlisted at a ratio between 2.5 times and 10 times the notified vacancies based on Prelim scores plus guest teacher weightage. Higher Secondary guest teachers obtain 5 marks per complete year of service (maximum 25 marks) upon crossing minimum qualifying cut-offs, subject to District Education Officer verification and pending legal outcomes.

3. Main Examination

  • Objective test of 150 questions for 150 marks (Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes).
  • Paper 1 (Class 1 to 5): Language (30 questions, qualifying minimum 30%) + General Studies (120 questions).
  • Papers 2, 3 & 4 (Classes 6 to 12): Language (30 questions, qualifying minimum 30%) + General Studies (40 questions) + Subject Paper (80 questions).
  • The 1/3rd negative marking and mandatory Option-E rule apply to the Main Examination as well.
  • A separate application is required for the Main Exam.

4. Certificate Verification

Verification of educational, training, and eligibility certificates is conducted using mobile OTP verification. In-service candidates must submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC). Submitting fraudulent documents leads to cancellation, recovery of pay under the Bihar and Orissa Public Demand Recovery Act 1914, and legal action.
