The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has invited online applications for the OPSC Assistant Agriculture Engineer Recruitment 2026. This recruitment drive aims to fill 48 permanent Class-II (Group-B) vacancies in the Odisha Agriculture Engineering Service under Level-10 of the ORSP Pay Matrix 2017 with a starting basic pay of ₹44,900.

Category-Wise Vacancy Distribution

A total of 48 vacancies are notified. Please note that Odisha state recruitment uses the SEBC category instead of OBC (an OBC certificate cannot be accepted in place of SEBC), and there is no separate EWS reservation. Women quota numbers sit inside the respective category totals:

Eligibility Criteria for OPSC Assistant Agriculture Engineer 2026

1. Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture Engineering from a University or Institution recognised by a State Government or the Government of India.
• No other equivalent branch (such as Civil or Mechanical Engineering) will be accepted.
• Candidates must be Indian citizens and free from any current debarment by OPSC, UPSC, or another State PSC.
• Certificate Cutoff Rule: Degree certificates, SC/ST caste certificates, Odia language certificates, disability proofs, and Ex-Servicemen release documents must all be issued on or before the online application submission date. SEBC certificates must have been issued on or after 29 August 2023. Women belonging to SEBC/SC/ST categories must present caste certificates showing "daughter of...", as certificates by marriage ("wife of...") are not accepted.

2. Mandatory Knowledge of Odia Language

Candidates must possess the ability to read, write, and speak Odia, validated through any one of the following criteria:

• Passed Middle School examination with Odia as a language subject.
• Passed Matriculation (or equivalent) with Odia as the medium of examination in a non-language subject.
• Passed Class-VII with Odia as a language subject at a recognized school.
• Passed an Odia test of Middle English School standard conducted by the School & Mass Education Department, Odisha, or BSE Odisha.

3. Age Limit & Relaxations (As on 01/01/2026)

Applicants must be between 21 and 42 years of age as on 1 January 2026 (born between 2 January 1984 and 1 January 2005). The date of birth on the High School Certificate is taken as authentic.

Salary & Service Benefits

Selected candidates are appointed to a Class-II (Group-B) Gazetted post under the ORSP Rules, 2017:

• Basic Pay: ₹44,900 per month (Level-10, Cell-1 of the Pay Matrix).
• Pre-revised Scale: Pay Band-2 (₹9,300 – ₹34,800) with Grade Pay ₹4,600.
• Allowances: Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other admissible state allowances sanctioned by the Government of Odisha.
• Job Security: All posts are permanent and likely to continue.

Selection Process & Examination Pattern

Selection is based entirely on merit calculated across two progressive stages carrying a total of 225 marks:

1. Written Examination: 200 Marks (Objective MCQ type evaluated via OMR, split into two papers).
2. Personality Test / Viva-Voce: 25 Marks (Shortlisting ratio of roughly 1:2 of category vacancies, minimum 5 candidates).
3. Document Verification & Medical Examination: Mandatory verification of original certificates and fitness clearance by a Medical Board.

Written Exam Pattern

• Marking Scheme: 1 mark per correct answer; 0.25 mark (25%) deducted for each incorrect response. Zero marks for unattempted questions.
• Questions are set at the Bachelor’s Degree standard in Agriculture Engineering.

• General Engineering: Computer programming & data structures, workshop technology, applied electronics & instrumentation, agricultural statistics, units & dimensions, surveying & levelling, building construction & cost estimation, greenhouse design.
• Farm Machinery and Power: Farm machinery, farm power, tractor systems & controls, power & machinery management, human engineering & safety, precision agriculture, renewable energy systems.
• Agricultural Processing & Food Engineering: Engineering properties of food materials, grain processing, drying & storage of crops, horticultural produce processing (food packaging, thermal processing, evaporation, freezing, and food laws including FSSAI, BIS, Codex, ISO).
• Soil and Water Conservation Engineering: Fluid mechanics, irrigation engineering (including drip and sprinkler systems), drainage engineering, groundwater, wells & pumps, hydrology, soil & water conservation, and watershed management.

Application Fee & Refund Policy

Note on Fee Refund: Candidates paying the ₹700 fee must accurately provide their bank account number, account holder name, IFSC, and branch details during form submission. The amount is directly refunded after the exam to everyone who attends both papers.
