Educational Qualifications & Experience Required

Eligibility criteria for CAPF Medical Officer Recruitment 2026 vary according to the level of the post:

1. Super Specialist Medical Officer

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized university/institution.
  • Registration in a State Medical Register and completion of compulsory rotating internship.
  • Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in the relevant specialty.
  • DM, M.Ch., or equivalent qualification in the concerned super specialty.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the concerned super specialty after obtaining the first PG degree. Senior residency duration will be counted as valid experience.
  • Permanent registration with MCI, NMC, or State Medical Council prior to appointment.

2. Specialist Medical Officer

  • Recognized Allopathic Medical qualification included in the schedules of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
  • Completion of compulsory rotating internship.
  • PG Degree or PG Diploma in the concerned specialty.
  • Experience: Minimum 1.5 years experience in the relevant specialty after obtaining PG Degree OR minimum 2.5 years experience after obtaining PG Diploma.
  • Permanent registration with MCI, NMC, or State Medical Council is mandatory before appointment.

3. Medical Officer

  • Recognized Allopathic Medical Qualification (MBBS).
  • Permanent registration with MCI, NMC, or State Medical Council.
  • Completion of compulsory rotating internship. Candidates currently completing their rotating internship are also eligible to apply and participate in the interview; however, internship completion is mandatory prior to appointment.

CAPF Medical Officer Selection Process

The recruitment process does not include a written examination. Selection will be completed through the following stages:

  1. Document Verification (DV)
  2. Interview (200 Marks)
  3. Physical Standard Test (PST)
  4. Medical Examination Test (MET)
  5. Review Medical Examination (RME, if applicable)
  6. Final Merit List

Interview Marking System: The Interview carries 200 marks. It tests general awareness, professional domain knowledge, personality, alertness, leadership capability, and moral character. A minimum qualifying score of 40% (80 marks) is mandatory for all categories. Candidates scoring less than 80 marks will be disqualified. Final merit ranking will be drawn based strictly on total interview marks.

Important Service Conditions

  • Selected candidates can be posted anywhere in India or abroad depending on service requirements.
  • A minimum service bond period of 10 years is mandatory. Resigning before 10 years requires refunding 3 months salary & allowances or training costs, whichever is higher.
  • A 2-year probation period applies, extendable by 1 year if needed.
  • Candidates must successfully undergo prescribed basic training.
  • Private practice, consulting, or laboratory practice is strictly prohibited.
  • Super Specialist Medical Officer positions are available only in ITBP, whereas Specialist MO and MO candidates must fill force preferences for all CAPFs & Assam Rifles.
