Indian Army Sports Quota Entry 06/2026 Overview

The Indian Army is inviting applications from highly talented, unmarried male and female athletes across the nation. The recruitment drive is organized under the sports quota entry for the positions of Direct Entry Havildar (Sports) and Direct Entry Naib Subedar (Sports). Important Timelines

• Last Date for Receipt of Physical Applications: 10 July 2026 (until 05:00 PM)
• Sports Trial Dates: Will be communicated individually to shortlisted applicants.

Application Fee & Age Restrictions

The recruitment process is entirely free of charge. Applicants are not required to pay any registration fee.

• Application Fee: INR 0 (Nil) for all candidates.
• Age Limit: 17.5 years to 25 years. Candidates must be born between 30 September 2001 and 1 October 2008 (both dates inclusive).

Educational & Sports Criteria

Interested candidates can apply under 10th Pass Govt Jobs. The general educational minimum is a Matriculation pass, supplemented by specified national or international sports achievements.

1. Direct Entry Havildar (Sports) Requirements

• Must have represented a State or Country in Junior or Senior National level championships with medal-winning performances.
• Should have represented India in individual events at an International level.
• Represented State/Union Territory or India in Team Championships at National or International levels.
• Medal winners in Khelo India Games, Khelo India Youth Games, or Khelo India University Games.

2. Direct Entry Naib Subedar (Sports) Requirements

• Must be a medal winner in the World Championship or Asian Championship.
• Medal winner in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games (CWG), or World Cup events.
• Must have represented India at least twice in the Asian Games, Commonwealth Games, or World Cup.
• Represented India in the Olympic Games.

Selection Process Overview

Unlike regular entries, there is no written examination. Candidates will progress through a merit-based sports performance analysis, physical trials, and medical evaluations as detailed below:

1. Document verification and screening of sport achievements.
2. Shortlisting of candidates for physical assessment.
3. Dispatch of Call Letters for Sports Trials.
4. Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT).
5. Skill Test in the respective sporting discipline.
6. Comprehensive Medical Examination.
7. Final selection list generation based on active vacancy distribution.

Physical Standards & Fitness Requirements

Standard height, weight, and chest expansions are monitored carefully according to Indian Army parameters.

Male Candidate Physical Fitness Standards

Physical Test Activities (Male): Run 1.6 KM in 5 Minutes 45 Seconds, clear a 9-Feet Ditch jump (Qualifying), and balance on a Zig-Zag beam (Qualifying).

Female Candidate Physical Fitness Standards

• Minimum Height: 162 cm (with 4 cm relaxation for North-Eastern states, Gorkhas, Garhwalis, and specific tribal groups).
• Physical Test Activities (Female): Run 1.6 KM in 8 Minutes, clear a 10-Feet Long Jump (Qualifying), and clear a 3-Feet High Jump (Qualifying).

How to File the Offline Application

Eligible athletes must adhere to the offline postal procedure carefully. Send forms only via Registered Post (Speed Post/Courier are not accepted).

1. Visit the official website joinindianarmy.nic.in and download the official notification.
2. Print the application form on high-quality A4 size white paper.
3. Fill out the form completely using a black/blue ballpoint pen. Ensure all spellings match your Class 10 Certificate.
4. Affix a passport-size color photograph, put your signature, and add your left thumb impression at the specified space.
5. Attach self-attested photocopies of educational certificates, domicile, caste certificates, character certificate, unmarried certificate, and sports credentials.
