Rajasthan JEN Recruitment 2026: Overview & Key Highlights

The Rajasthan Staff Selection Board (RSSB / RSMSSB), Jaipur has issued detailed advertisement number 10/2026 for the Junior Engineer Combined Direct Recruitment 2026. Under this drive, a total of 874 Junior Engineer (JEN) posts will be filled across three major state engineering departments: the Public Works Department (PWD), Water Resources Department (WRD), and Public Health Engineering Department (PHED).

The online application window opens on 16 August 2026 and closes on 14 September 2026 at 11:59 PM. The board has tentatively scheduled the combined recruitment examination for February 2027. Department-Wise Vacancy Details

Out of 874 total openings, 793 vacancies are allocated to Non-Scheduled (Non-TSP) areas and 81 vacancies to Scheduled (TSP) areas. The highest number of posts (351) is in the Public Works Department for Civil Degree holders. Departmental allocation will be conducted strictly based on category-wise merit and the departmental priorities selected by candidates during application submission.

Educational Qualification Requirements

Candidates must ensure they satisfy the minimum technical and language qualifications prescribed for their specific post:

• Junior Engineer (Civil) Degree: Degree in Civil Engineering from a university incorporated by law in India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government. Working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and knowledge of Rajasthani culture is mandatory.
• Junior Engineer (Civil) Diploma: Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized institution or equivalent qualification recognized by the Institution of Engineers, along with practical Hindi and Rajasthani culture knowledge.
• Junior Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical) Diploma: Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution or equivalent qualification recognized by the Institution of Engineers, plus working knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script and Rajasthani culture.

Note: Candidates appearing in their final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply, provided they acquire the prescribed educational qualification on or before the date of the recruitment examination.

Age Limit & Category Relaxation

The age calculation cut-off date is 1 January 2027. Candidates must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have reached 40 years of age. Because the combined JEN examination was not conducted in the previous cycle, all applicants receive an additional 1-year general age relaxation over the upper limit.

Application Fee & OTR Process

Candidates must complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process on the Rajasthan SSO / Recruitment portal before submitting the form. Candidates who have already paid the one-time OTR fee earlier are exempt from paying again.

Candidates from reserved categories belonging to states other than Rajasthan will be treated under the General / Unreserved category and must pay the General fee.

The selection will be finalized through a competitive written examination followed by Document Verification.

Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

Key Examination Rules:

• The test will consist entirely of objective multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
• Negative Marking: 1/3rd (one-third) of the marks allocated to that question will be deducted for every incorrect response.
• Minimum Qualifying Marks: Candidates must score a minimum of 40% aggregate marks to be considered for qualification.

Salary & Pay Matrix

Junior Engineers selected under this recruitment receive compensation under Pay Matrix Level L-10. During the mandatory two-year probation training period, candidates will receive a fixed monthly remuneration as per Rajasthan State Government rules. Upon successful completion of probation, regular pay scale along with applicable state allowances (DA, HRA, etc.) will be admissible.
