MPESB Group 3 Recruitment 2026: Overview & Key Highlights

The Madhya Pradesh Employees Selection Board (MPESB), formerly known as MP Vyapam, has published the official Rule Book for the Group-3 Combined Recruitment Test 2026. Under this state-level technical recruitment drive, a total of 1,040 vacancies are being filled across 42 government departments and 120 distinct post codes. Major posts include Sub Engineer (उपयंत्री), Laboratory Technician, Draftsman, Assistant Architectural Draftsman (GIS), Surveyor, Technical Assistant, and Mineral Surveyor.

Vacancy Distribution by Post Name & Category

Sub Engineer positions account for 854 of the total 1,040 vacancies. The Public Works Department (PWD) is recruiting 293 Sub Engineers, while the Rural Engineering Services holds 290 Sub Engineer (Civil) posts under a single code. The remaining 186 posts are allocated to 12 other technical designations.

Reservation Note: OBC reservation at 27% is subject to pending judicial decisions (87% clear and 13% provisional). Up to 50% of seats in select post codes (approx. 289 total seats) are reserved for serving contract employees with 5+ years of continuous service.

Eligibility Criteria for MPESB Group 3 Recruitment 2026

1. Educational Qualification by Post

• Sub Engineer: 3-year Diploma or Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering from a recognized institution. Post codes 089 and 090 require an additional 1-year Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing/Geoinformatics. Explore more technical roles under Engineering Jobs.
• Laboratory Technician / Lab Technician: Diploma (First Division in most post codes) in relevant engineering branches (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science, Automobile, RAC, Architecture, etc.). Check related options under Lab Technician Jobs.
• Assistant Architectural Draftsman (GIS): 3-year Diploma/Degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering, or a 4-year Bachelor’s in Planning, along with a minimum 8-week certificate in GIS & Remote Sensing.

• Draftsman / Technical Assistant: First Division Diploma in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or CS. Proficiency in AutoCAD and STAAD is preferred.
• Mineral Surveyor: Diploma in Mining or Civil Engineering.
• Mechanical Assistant (Sub Engineer): Degree in Agricultural Engineering.

Mandatory Registration: A live registration with the Madhya Pradesh Employment Exchange (Rojgar Panjiyan) is compulsory for all candidates.

2. Age Limit (As on 1 January 2026)

• Minimum Age: 18 Years
• Unreserved / General Candidates: Maximum 40 Years
• SC / ST / OBC / Women / PwBD / Govt Employees (MP Domicile): Maximum 45 Years
• Contract Employees & Rule-14 Categories: Up to 55 Years

3. MP Domicile Rule

Age relaxation, reservation benefits, and subsidized fee rates are admissible strictly to bona fide permanent residents (मूल निवासी) of Madhya Pradesh. Candidates from other states are treated under the Unreserved (General) category.

Salary & Pay Scale

Stipend during Probation: Appointees receive 70% of the minimum basic pay in the 1st year, 80% in the 2nd year, and 90% in the 3rd year, along with admissible state allowances (DA, HRA).

Exam Pattern & Selection Process

Selection will be based entirely on a Computer Based Test (CBT) consisting of 200 multiple-choice questions for 200 marks over a duration of 3 hours (180 minutes):

• Marking Scheme: 1 mark per correct answer; 0.25 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer.
• Qualifying Marks: 50% for Unreserved candidates; 40% for SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and PwBD candidates.
• Bonus Marks: 5 bonus marks are awarded to holders of NCC 'C' certificates and applicable Rule-14 categories.

1. Visit the official MPESB portal: esb.mp.gov.in.
2. Click on the Group-3 Combined Recruitment Test 2026 application link.
3. Log in using your MP Online Profile registration and complete biometric/e-KYC verification.
4. Select your post preferences and department codes carefully from the 120 available post codes.
5. Select 4 preferred examination cities from the 11 designated centers: Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Khandwa, Neemuch, Ratlam, Rewa, Sagar, Satna, Sidhi, and Ujjain.
6. Upload scanned copies of your photograph, signature, handwritten declaration, and eligibility marksheets.
7. Pay the application fee and portal charges online.
8. Submit the form and take a printout of the final application receipt containing your Application Number.
