The Commission has announced 111 Principal vacancies. One Principal will be appointed in each participating aided college across Uttar Pradesh.

Institution-wise Distribution

According to the recruitment notification, all 111 vacancies are Unreserved (General). No reservation has been provided for SC, ST, OBC or EWS categories in this recruitment.

UPESSC Principal Eligibility Criteria 2026

Candidates must satisfy all eligibility conditions mentioned in the official notification before applying.

Educational Qualification

• A Ph.D. degree is mandatory.
• The applicant should be working as a Professor or Associate Professor.
• A minimum of 15 years of teaching or research experience in universities, colleges or other higher education institutions is required.
• The candidate must have at least 10 research publications published in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals.
• A minimum Research Score of 110 as prescribed under the applicable API/Table-2 norms is compulsory.
• For Law Colleges, eligibility will be governed by Bar Council of India (BCI) norms.
• For B.Ed. Colleges, eligibility will be governed by NCTE norms.
